Artificial intelligence startup Rabbit Inc. unveiled OS3 on Tuesday. The company is best known for launching the consumer-oriented R1 mobile device. OS3 is a personal AI agent that runs in the cloud and connects to personal devices.
Although OS3 runs in the cloud, it operates on a user's PC and other devices through the rabbit agent. The agent installs through a single command. The company stated it can be installed on up to five machines.
The industry already features several personal AI agents and assistants. Examples include OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Instinct, and Muse. These tools provide autonomous AI capabilities running on consumer devices, remember long-term goals, and use digital tools to complete tasks in the background.
Rabbit noted that OS3 and the Rabbit agent connect to any AI model. However, users must bring their own key. Users must sign up for a model provider or supply their own local model.
Model providers include Anthropic PBC's Claude and OpenAI Group PBC's GPT. The agent also connects to aggregators such as OpenRouter. It can swap between models without affecting context, memory, or skills.
Founder and Chief Executive Jesse Lyu shared insights on the release. We have spent two and a half years building toward a system you do not operate, but instead just tell it the outcome, Lyu said. OS3 allows users to stop worrying about whether a task is technically possible, and start collaborating on whatever is on their mind.
Users type to the agent through a normal chat interface or speak out loud. The agent supports deep conversations and background operations 24/7. It contacts the user when long-term tasks are complete.
The system connects to phones through a paired Telegram bot and through the web. Frontier labs like Anthropic and OpenAI test similar always-on personal agent computer-use capabilities. Claude Dispatch allows the company's Windows and macOS apps to run on a user's PC while away.
Rabbit stated OS3 features universal skill compatibility. Users can import skills from different agents or AI assistants by copying and pasting the skill's URL.
The company stressed that OS3 contains guardrails and only acts in response to user instructions. Sensitive actions require user consent and confirmation. System-level permissions are requested locally, and users can revoke permissions at any time.
Users can install OS3 on Windows, macOS, Linux local machines, cloud virtual machines, dedicated AI machines, and the R1. More device types are planned. The R1 is not required to run OS3, but works with it.
