Nvidia plans to invest $3 billion in Meta’s planned equity offering, the Wall Street Journal reports. Meta is an Nvidia customer and plans to run more of its AI agents on Nvidia hardware. The companies also said they would expand their partnership around Meta’s AI product Muse.

The investment is part of Meta’s effort to pay for AI infrastructure. Meta wants to raise up to $95 billion through stock offerings for that buildout. According to CNBC, AMD and Broadcom have also signaled nonbinding interest in buying up to $5 billion in Meta shares combined.

Meta plans to use more Nvidia infrastructure for its next generation of AI agents. Its plans include Vera Rubin systems and Vera CPUs. The proposed investment would give Nvidia a stake in a customer that expects to use more of its hardware.

Investors debate circular financing deals

Investors have debated similar arrangements for months. Nvidia gives money to customers such as OpenAI, which use it to build data centers packed with Nvidia chips. Critics call the pattern circular financing. They warn that it could obscure how much real demand exists.

The Meta deal puts another Nvidia customer within that debate. The next stated step is Meta’s planned stock offerings, through which it wants to raise up to $95 billion for its AI infrastructure buildout.
