Why it matters

The product attempts to merge continuous health tracking with multi-agent AI control in a single wearable form factor.

The facts

  • Startup Natura announced a new $99 smart ring named Interface designed to connect users directly with AI agents.
  • The device doubles as a health tracker monitoring heart rate, sleep, and activity with a battery life lasting six to 12 days.
  • Preorders are expected to open next month with shipping slated for December or January.

AI and hardware startup Natura has introduced Interface, a $99 smart ring built for the era of artificial intelligence agents. By pressing a finger against the device, users can ask an AI agent to execute tasks, capture thoughts, and manage workflows without pulling out a smartphone.

Carlo Edoardo Ferraris founded the startup after previously launching the tech accessories company Rolling Square. He concluded that rapidly advancing AI required a new kind of interface that allows people to make requests as naturally as they would speak to another person.

At launch, the ring connects with various AI agents and applications, including Meta Muse, Instinct, Grok Bot, Claude, and ChatGPT. Users can direct specific requests to particular agents, such as asking Claude to write code or Instinct to secure a reservation.

Smart rings offer health tracking

Alongside AI agent integration, the ring functions as a health tracker. It monitors metrics including heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep stages, daily movement, step count, and skin temperature over time.

The device is not Natura's first hardware release, following the company's HumanPods AI-enabled earbuds. Ferraris noted that constant access required a different form factor, leading the team to build a ring that users can keep on while sleeping or showering.

Responses from AI agents reach the user through connected headphones, an iPhone Live Activity, or the NatureOS app. Users can also control computers and other devices through simple voice commands, which Ferraris expects will eventually replace many screen-based tasks.

Manufacturing costs match competitors

Natura plans to launch the ring at $99 to reduce the barrier to entry and build a user base before eventually raising the price. Following an initial three to six month free period, the company intends to introduce a $9 monthly subscription fee.

The manufacturing costs for the Interface ring align with devices like the Oura Ring and Samsung Galaxy Ring because they share many similar components. The ring lasts between six and 12 days on a full charge depending on usage and requires 100 minutes to fully recharge.

While the smart ring market includes health-focused options from Oura, Ultrahuman, and RingConn, alongside AI alternatives from Pebble and Vocci, Ferraris stated that Interface merges both categories. He highlighted the hardware's small size, long battery life, health tracking, and agent communication capabilities.

Preorders are scheduled to open next month, with shipping expected to begin in December or January.
