The White House has lifted its block on the UK AI Security Institute’s access to new AI models. The institute, known as AISI, tests systems for safety risks before they are released. It will again receive early access to models from Anthropic, Google DeepMind and OpenAI, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The Trump administration told the companies in September to stop sharing models with AISI. Anthropic subsequently restricted the institute’s access to its new Claude Mythos 5.1 model.
The reversal followed diplomatic pressure from AI Minister Kanishka Narayan. The restored access lets AISI resume its early testing of models from the three companies, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Burnham called for international AI regulation
Prime Minister Andy Burnham had called for international AI regulation at the UN General Assembly. At the same event, Trump warned that “globalist” organizations should stay out of American AI development.

The heads of MI6, MI5 and GCHQ had also warned ministers that AI was empowering hostile actors and terrorists. Their warning adds context to the UK’s push for access to new models before release.
Narayan plans new AI safety measures
