Meta Launches Ray-Ban Blayzer and Scriber — Prescription Smart Glasses at $499
Meta launched two new Ray-Ban smart glasses models built specifically for prescription wearers: the Blayzer and the Scriber. Previous Ray-Ban Meta frames could be adapted for prescriptions after the fact, but these are the first designed with prescriptions as the primary use case.
Blayzer comes in a rectangular design in Standard and Large sizes. Scriber has a more rounded frame. Both feature overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and optician-adjustable temple tips so the fit can be customized to individual faces. Meta says they are the most comfortable glasses it has ever designed.
Both styles start at $499 and are available for pre-order now on Meta.com and Ray-Ban.com. They ship to optical retailers in the US and select international markets on April 14.
Meta is also adding new software features to the broader Ray-Ban lineup, including hands-free nutrition tracking via voice or photo, and Meta AI WhatsApp message summaries. New color options for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Oakley Meta frames are also launching alongside the new styles.
Google and Samsung are both expected to ship Android XR glasses this year. Apple is reportedly targeting early 2027. Nothing confirmed it is also building AI glasses for a 2027 release. The AI glasses market is moving fast.
