Google is rolling out Universal Cart in the US across the Gemini app and Google Search. The tool puts products from different retailers in one digital cart, so shoppers can keep track of items they find across Google’s platforms.
Google previewed the cart at its I/O event in May. Its launch comes ahead of Black Friday and the holiday shopping season. Shoppers can add products they find through Gemini or Search AI Mode, and those items appear in the same cart.
Google says the cart can alert shoppers when saved items drop in price or return to stock. It can also show promotional codes it finds for those products.
At checkout, shoppers can pay through Google Wallet or move an item to the retailer’s cart and pay there. A demo of the checkout options suggests shoppers cannot check out from multiple retailers at once. Universal Cart can also work with Google Wallet to compare perks on saved credit cards and help shoppers choose a payment method.

The launch adds Google to a growing field of AI-assisted shopping tools. OpenAI and Meta have launched AI assistants that can shop online for users. Shopify recently said it is opening its platform to more AI agents that can browse and buy products from Shopify listings.
Google’s cart focuses on collecting items and helping shoppers decide when and how to buy them. Google plans to bring Universal Cart to Gmail and YouTube, but has not announced when those integrations will arrive.
