The system covers the entire production pipeline. It handles script analysis, character creation, storyboarding, and video previews.
Dramagic supports simultaneous collaboration by multiple users. It also features built-in consistency checks to maintain overall quality.
ByteDance is selling the software through BytePlus. BytePlus serves as the company enterprise platform.
This release aligns with a broader market trend in China. The China Netcasting Services Association reported that approximately 128,000 short dramas were published in China during the first quarter of 2026. That figure is three times the total output for the entire previous year.
A significant portion of this content relies on automation. Ninety-five percent of those recent productions were generated by artificial intelligence.
Cost reduction is driving the shift toward automated tools. Tsinghua University professor Shen Yang estimates that producing one minute of AI video costs between $90 and $120. That expense equals roughly one-tenth of traditional production costs.
Labor dynamics are shifting as adoption grows. The sector currently employs 690,000 people directly. At the same time, some performers are reportedly forced to sign over their voice and likeness to AI tools prior to being laid off.
