AI coding startup Cognition is currently in talks with investors to secure a fresh funding round. The company develops the AI coding agent named Devin.

The potential new round could push the valuation of the startup to at least forty billion dollars. This valuation target relies on the company achieving a one billion dollar annualized revenue run rate.

Bloomberg first reported these ongoing fundraising discussions. The new talks follow a significant financial event in May. At that time, Cognition successfully raised one billion dollars at a valuation of twenty-six billion dollars.

During that May announcement, Scott Wu confirmed to TechCrunch that the company had reached an annualized revenue run rate of four hundred ninety-two million dollars. He also shared that enterprise usage of Devin expanded by fifty percent month-over-month across the preceding six months.

Wu stated that Devin does not serve as a human replacement. Instead, the agent handles repetitive tasks that developers typically dislike. These tasks include updating legacy software and migrating applications between different platforms.

This practical utility helps explain the strong adoption rate among large corporate clients. Enterprise customers currently utilizing the agent include Goldman Sachs, NASA, and Mercedes-Benz.

The company will continue its fundraising discussions with interested investors as it works toward its revenue and valuation goals.
