Kling AI has released version 4.0 of its AI video generator. It adds longer clips, more control over scenes, stereo audio and a lighter Flash model. The company says the update should narrow the gap between AI-generated and professional video.
Users can generate up to 30 seconds of video in one pass. They can supply up to ten keyframe images to guide scene transitions, character states and story beats. The model can also process prompts of up to 8,000 tokens.
Reference controls cover more assets
Kling AI says its upgraded "Omni Reference" system accepts up to 15 assets per generation. Its stated limits include up to 10 images, 5 videos totaling no more than 30 seconds, and 7 elements. It can use storyboards, wireframes, image grids, white-model videos and depth-map videos as references.
A feature called "Creative Recreation" uses an existing video as a template for replacing products or characters. According to Kling AI, users can adjust a facial expression, body movement, camera angle or background without changing the rest of the clip.
A comparison in The Decoder places Kling 4.0 alongside Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5, both from Chinese competitors. Kling 4.0 holds its own but does not clearly lead on logical shot sequencing, physics or natural-sounding dialogue. The comparison raises the possibility that progress in AI video models is slowing, though upcoming Wan and Seedance releases will offer more evidence.

Audio and text support more languages
Kling 4.0 adds two-channel stereo audio. The company says lip sync has improved across more than ten languages, including German, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish, as well as various dialects and accents. Text generated inside videos now supports multiple languages and remains stable as the camera moves.
Kling 4.0 Flash is designed to generate video faster and at lower cost, with limits of 720p resolution and 20 seconds per clip. Kling AI has also redesigned the creation interface. Users can access Kling 4.0 through MCP and CLI to build automated workflows with AI agents.
Kling AI has not announced pricing for its API. It lists API support, 10-bit HDR output at 4K and 1080p, and a video extension feature that would stretch clips to up to two minutes as "coming soon."
