Bluesky has expanded Attie, its experimental AI-powered tool, to let users build websites, quizzes, games, polls and other interactive experiences. The company announced the new capabilities Thursday at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026.

Attie initially helped users build custom social feeds. Bluesky says the expansion is meant to give everyday users a way to create experiences that previously required software developers. Projects made with Attie will run on the AT Protocol, or ATProto, which also powers Bluesky and other decentralized social apps in the network known as the Atmosphere.

Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider described the feature as a way to build sites and social experiences for groups. “So think of it as … social vibe coding or vibe coding for your community,” he said during an interview at Disrupt. He said he wants people to be able to build together or build for a group, rather than work alone.

Creators connect to their ATProto identity

Creators using Attie are connected to their ATProto identity. The tool will also suggest things to make based on their public Bluesky profiles. Users can bring their own AI model or use open-weight options.

Bluesky COO Rose Wang said the resulting sites and games can reach Bluesky’s wider audience. She pointed to distribution as a challenge for people building new projects and said Attie benefits from its connection to Bluesky. The network has 47 million registered users, although engagement has declined as some people who tried it later returned to X.

Attie gives Bluesky a place to test AI ideas

Attie also gives Bluesky a place to test AI-powered ideas. Schneider, a former Automattic CEO and a partner at True Ventures, had been leading Bluesky on an interim basis after Jay Graber stepped down as CEO in March to become chief innovation officer. He is now taking charge as the company enters the AI era.

The expansion fits Bluesky’s plans to focus on developers and communities in the months ahead. Schneider said private data has been developers’ biggest request for ATProto. It is in alpha testing, with a rollout planned by the end of the year.
